[new] Intersections &
Splats is now a standalone CGI script (see below).
Basic INTERCAL Resources
- The
C-INTERCAL distribution. This includes the compiler,
full documentation, and most known INTERCAL programs.
Warning! The current distribution contains a
makefile that can delete other files when installing. It is
strongly recommended that you replace it with this
makefile before doing an installation.
- The
HTML version of C-INTERCAL manual. Complete and up-to-date.
- The INTERCAL
Resources Page. Maintained by Eric S. Raymond, the author of
the C-INTERCAL compiler. This page also has links to the
essential resources. (See also his
Retrocomputing Museum,
where INTERCAL is but one deranged creature among many.)
- The
Pit. A sterling web page maintained by Louis Howell, the
most prolific INTERCAL programmer ever. Includes an analysis
of a non-trivial INTERCAL program, and several programs not
included in the current distribution.
- What is INTERCAL? If you don't know
what INTERCAL is, this introduction will not help you in the
slightest.
Other Resources
-
The original INTERCAL manual. This is an HTML version of the
text file by which the legend of INTERCAL spread to the outside
world. (*)
- INTERCAL operators in Perl. For the
polyglot hacker.
- A Recursive
Benchmark in Fourteen Languages. Louis Howell carefully
analyzes how several different languages fare at optimizing a
classic stack-intensive algorithm. C, C++, Lisp, INTERCAL,
Orthogonal, Algol, Ghostscript, and others. A nonesuch by the
master; highly recommended.
- Jacob
Mandelson's INTERCAL page. Another accomplished INTERCAL
programmer.
- William
Walter Patterson's INTERCAL page. William Walter Patterson
is the party responsible for the strangely appropriate port of
the C-INTERCAL compiler to MS-DOS (endorsed by the author).
From here you can download the latest version.
- Intersections
& Splats is now the world's first INTERCAL CGI script.
This script, written entirely in INTERCAL, allows you to play a
Mastermind-style game with your web browser. Instructions are on
the starting page. Intersections & Splats also exists as a
standalone game;
the
current distribution contains documentation and a colorized
version of the game (for vt100/ANSI-style color terminals only).
- alt.lang.intercal, a quiet
newsgroup with occasional bursts of activity.
Miscellaneous Sightings
- Hello,
World in INTERCAL. This page catalogues the hello world
program in many different languages.
(*)
-
Bottles of Beer in INTERCAL (150k). This page, on the other
hand, catalogues programs that sing the "99 Bottles of
Beer" song in many different languages.
(*)
- Finally, here is an archive of a
1992 article about INTERCAL, written by
Charlie
Stross. Although it contains a few glaring errors,
nonetheless it is well-written, and a rare appearance of
INTERCAL in the print media - perhaps the only one outside of
The New Hacker's Dictionary. (*)
Note to Lynx users: Items marked with a (*) are not completely
readable under Lynx, as the maintainers have not replaced the
angle-worms (<-) that appear in the INTERCAL source code.
